DEL Recommendations for a Successful Transition to Kindergarten (2021)Guidance Document developed by the Division of Early Learning in 2021, per new House Bill 7011, now in statute section 1002.83 (16). DEL was charged to provide guidance to early learning coalitions in successfully transitions to kindergarten. As referenced in the statute, the office shall provide guidelines for successful kindergarten transitions to early learning coalitions, school districts, charter schools, and parents to assist with the implementation of this subsection.
Welcome to the new Kindergarten School Search. This interactive tool helps North Carolina families find kindergarten education opportunities offered by public schools, including charter schools, and private schools. Search results also indicate if a private school the Opportunity Scholarship and/or Education Student Accounts (ESA+) programs. The Division of Child Development and Early Education will update the Kindergarten School Search information each year by June 1st.

Highline offers unique programs for incoming kindergarten students to help them be ready for kindergarten in the fall. These programs include Kindergarten Jump Start and WaKIDS. Kindergarten Jump Start is a three-day learning experience to help incoming kindergarten students and their parents be ready to start school. This program is free and open to all incoming students who are registered for kindergarten at a Highline elementary school.
We encourage our families to work with their students at home. To help, we've created the Kindergarten Readiness Guidelines which highlight some of the skills children need to be prepared for kindergarten. These guidelines are a parent resource designed to help families prepare children for school.

In kindergarten classrooms, children learn how to make friends, resolve conflicts, and work as a team. They learn the alphabet and how to read simple words. They also develop better motor skills by doing exercises such as puzzles and crafts.

This library program encourages all Virginia Beach families and caregivers to read at least 1,000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Reading to preschool-age children builds vocabulary and helps develop the language skills they need for kindergarten. In as little as 15 minutes a day, families can build the skills for future school and life success.

Making the transition into the school system can be an emotional time for you and your student. Whether you're a first-time parent or caregiver or if this is your last student entering kindergarten, our team of staff is ready to help you along the way.
According to MN State Statute, a person shall not be admitted to a public school as a kindergarten pupil, unless the pupil is at least five (5) years of age on or before September 1, of the calendar year in which the school year commences. (120A.20, MN Statutes 2007) Students who demonstrate superior academic readiness will be considered for early entrance to kindergarten if they will be turning five (5) years of age between September 2 and August 31 of their early entrance school year. (120B.5, MN Statutes, 2004).
All children in Minnesota are required to begin attending school by the age of seven. Children are not required by statute to complete kindergarten before beginning first grade. The district recommends that children attend kindergarten before entering first grade.
Make plans to have your child's immunizations up-to-date before beginning kindergarten. Although these are not required at time of registration, please bring a record if available; and keep in mind that an updated immunization record is required before your child/children begins school.
Families should begin preparing their children to register for kindergarten in the winter before kindergarten begins. In Delaware, students must be five-years-old by August 31 of the current school year to attend kindergarten. Kindergarten registration deadlines vary per school, so please check with your local school district for specific timelines.
Scientific research has established that if all children are to achieve their developmental potential, it is important to lay the foundation during the earliest years for lifelong health, learning, and positive behavior. A central question is how well our public pre-kindergarten (pre-K) programs are doing to build this foundation.
The ECDS application will be available for LEAs to load kindergarten data from November 7, 2022, through January 26, 2023. LEAs are encouraged to begin submitting kindergarten data on November 7th to allow sufficient time to work through any challenges that may arise.
The ECDS application will be available for LEAs to load prekindergarten (PK) data from November 7, 2022, through June 22nd, 2023. *LEAs are encouraged to begin submitting PK beginning-of-year (BOY) data on November 7th to decrease the amount of data being submitted at the end of the year.
ECDS data will be ready to promote data on November 7, 2022. Vendors will contact LEAs to establish frequency of submissions. LEAs must validate their student, staff, course section, and assessment data, and resolve any fatal business validations, prior to completing the final ECDS kindergarten submission.

Additionally, in the coming months the ECE team will solicit feedback from early educators regarding future implementation of tools to support early childhood instruction. This input will guide future plans for a comprehensive set of aligned prekindergarten through grade 2 instruments to help educators implement data-driven instruction.

Additionally, there will be a kindergarten student orientation on August 14, 2023. More information will follow as the date approaches. Parents will have an opportunity to meet teachers, tour the building, and prepare their students for the first day of school.
Your child will learn not only how to write numerals but also addition and subtraction, basic counting, skip counting, geometric shapes, telling time, and they will be introduced to the manipulative block system in the kindergarten math curriculum. LWSD offers free all-day kindergarten for all studentsAll kindergarten classes are all day classes. The state of Washington requires that school districts provide the option of kindergarten part-day attendance. Parents/guardians interested in part-day attendance for their child should contact their principal. Mid-day transportation will not be available. 59ce067264
